Hello!!! My name is Shetin Adams, I’m 19 years old and I am running to be Canada’s Miss Beauty of Africa 2018. I was born and raised in Calgary, but I was fortunate enough to have had the chances to go back to Ghana, where my family is from, every few years since I was very young.
I’m currently a student at the University of Calgary, studying International Relations with Sub-Saharan Africa as my regional focus. I have an intense passion for global and local issues, which is why I jumped at the chance to be part of this pageant. The combination of my own personal experience being raised by a single mother as well as the amazing information I’ve learned in my women’s studies course has prepared me to embark on a journey to do everything that I can to help vulnerable girls and women achieve their potential across hemispheres and regardless of their ethnic or financial background. I have been doing my research on the process, and I’m seriously pursuing creating a non-profit organization of my own for this purpose for the near future.
I’ll see you all in June!
The Third Annual Black Tie Beauty of Africa Gala is on June 2nd 2018 at the Festival Hall in Inglewood Calgary! Shetin is one of 10 contestants representing their countries of origin in a positive light. We no doubt believe she will do a great job at representing her country on stage!
