My name is Abena Oteng, and I will be representing beautiful Ghana in the 2018 Miss Beauty of Africa Pageant. I have lived in Calgary my whole life but have visited my family back home in Ghana twice. I am currently a 3rd-year Business Marketing Student at Mount Royal University. After conquering my goal of completing my business degree I plan to immerse myself in the workforce combining my passions for Fashion, Interior design, and Marketing. I am very passionate about uplifting and empowering black youth. From my position as an executive on the African Caribbean Student Association of Mount Royal, I have seen how strong we are when we come TOGETHER. Youth have the most vulnerable minds so we must do better on to our brothers and sisters. We have the power to heal each other and it must start by coming together as Africans and realizing our Power.
When I am not in school or working with disabled individuals I am blogging, reading or traveling around Calgary for the best food.
There is so much intelligence in Ghana that people don’t know about and I am excited to represent my country. Additionally, I am so excited to participate in this powerful event and hope it leaves a mark on the lives of many.
I’m thankful for my culture, my background and I’m thankful for being AFRICAN.
The Third Annual Black Tie Beauty of Africa Gala is on June 2nd 2018 at the Festival Hall in Inglewood Calgary! Jemima is one of 10 contestants representing their countries of origin in a positive light. We no doubt believe she will do a great job at representing her country on stage!
