Canada’s Miss Beauty of Africa 2018 – Miss Congo : Jemima Rubuye

Hello everyone, bonjour tout le monde, jambo wandugu, mbote na bino nyonso!!!

My name is Jemima, I am 22 years old, I am in my last year of Business Administration- Marketing. I was born and raised in the Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo which I am representing.

Born and raised in the Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, I am proud to be representing my first love, the place I call home. Its beauty is vast and especially blessed with natures wonders. From the lush rain forests in the river basin to the diamonds that can be found scattered all over the country. Unfortunately, as marvelous as it may be, the D.R.C has been in conflict for as long as I can remember, and political strife has been a constant struggle for the Congolese people. However, I feel women have been the most affected by the war on all fronts. Girls do not go to school because families are poor but also because they assume that do not have a word to say and a role to play. Education is power and key

I was born in a conflict zone, every time there was something going on, we had to run and relocate. Women have been rapped, they have been used as weapon of war because if they are weak then the whole community falls apart. I witnessed women of all ages being rapped and forced to stop their lives, go away from the community either because they feel ashamed, unworthy or because their husbands don’t want them at all.

I have volunteered with couple organizations that equip women to thrive, give them a reason to smile, to hope in a brighter future.

I compare myself to a glass of champagne, always spreading love, joy, hope, happiness around me. So in the future, I am thinking of going into psychology and open my own NGO

For me, running for this beauty pageant is a challenge and such a great opportunity to grow!

See on June 2nd! I appreciate your support!
