Salam Alaikhum! My name is Sherry Buroker, formerly Sherry Majok. I am representing Sudan, although I am also of Congolese heritage. I have been studying at Mount Royal University since 2015 and I am graduating from the Broadcasting Diploma this year. My goal is to become a creative director for a production company and to successfully produce and direct my own works. I am very passionate about helping people realize their potential and purpose. And if I had the opportunity to speak into the lives of young people, I would make sure I opened their eyes to the limitless possibilities by motivating them to achieve their passions and to do it wholeheartedly. In my spare time I like to record and edit youtube videos on my youtube channel, lead a drama group and performing arts life group at my church and singing on the worship team. I admire and one day I hope to live my life as an example of a strong woman, who works hard to achieve her goals. Representing the nation of Sudan makes me proud because it is my heritage, my background and it is a part of me. I want little Sudanese girls to see me and know, they capable of absolutely anything they put their minds to. “Success is not for the chosen few, it is for the few that choose.”
The Second Annual Black Tie Beauty of Africa Gala is on June 10th 2017 at the Festival Hall in Inglewood Calgary! Sherry is one of 15 contestants representing their countries of origin in a positive light. We no doubt believe she will do a great job at representing her country on stage!
